What it emulates
All 35 standard CHIP-8 instructions, the built-in hexadecimal font, 60 Hz delay and sound timers, XOR sprite drawing with collision detection, and the sixteen-key keypad. Where later interpreters differ, it follows the original COSMAC VIP: logic operations clear VF, shifts read VY, and stores advance I.
Using it
- Keyboard: 1 2 3 4 / Q W E R / A S D F / Z X C V map to the 4 × 4 keypad.
- Select an address in the program counter list to set a breakpoint; Step runs one instruction.
- The assembler accepts labels,
NAME = value,DB/DW, and #hex, 0x, 0b or decimal numbers. The four programs were written for this page; copy them freely.
